POSITION: Shipping Clerk
REPORTS TO: Site Manager
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Full Time – Hourly Exempt
Job Summary:
A Shipping Clerk is responsible for all aspects of packaging of finished goods, order pulling, shipment of orders (U.S. and International), and warehouse organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment: Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
· Determine method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
· Pull orders from generated reports.
· Affix shipping labels on packed orders/shipments
· Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
· Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
· Operate forklift truck or use hand truck/pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments.
· May receive damaged or defective goods returned to establishment.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Must have current forklift certification issued within the last 3 years when operating a forklift.
· Minimal 1 year experience operating as a Shipping Clerk.
· Must be able to read and comprehend work orders in English.
· Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled building which may be quite cold in the winter and close to 100 degrees in the summer.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Neatness and organizational skills are required.
· Must be able to operate a manual pallet jack.
· PC skills to use FedEx, UPS, StarShip Software, VShip Software and print labels. Experience with using Great Plains software is preferred, and if not known, must be able to train and be using the software efficiently within 3 months of hire date.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must undergo a background check.
